About Me

Hello, I’m Yasmine! I’m an Indonesian-American self taught artist based in Chicago, and I love exploring color through watercolor, acrylic, and gouache. 

Fruits By Yas started when I began painting fruit because they reminded me of sunny picnic moments shared between friends. I am inspired by everyday moments that make me feel joy and I enjoy sharing these emotions through still lifes, floral scenes, and abstract paintings. Most of my work is on canvas or paper, but I also enjoy painting home goods like pots and coasters. I have also painted an indoor mural for an apartment lobby in River North, and I am excited to dive into more mural works in the future! 

For the last 2 years, I’ve been living in Normandie, France as an English teacher and the beautiful small-town scenery and calmer pace of life has given me a new perspective to explore my art style. Now that I’m back in Chicago, I’m looking forward to continuing to grow as an artist and a small business.
